New East Arts is a gallery in east Austin and is a part of Diverse Arts. Diverse Arts is a local non-profit art presenter. They were apart of the east Austin studio tour 2008.

A Tree of Life
The School of Human Ecology at the University of Texas at Austin commissioned Susan Wallace to create a Tree of Life. The Tree, a 24ft x 15ft wall sculpture, is central to a donor campaign for an endowed Professorship in Early Childhood Development. The Electric Car
Pat Cadam, of Green Gears in San Francisco, visited Austin Community College’s automotive department at the Riverside campus on Oct. 15, 2008 to demonstrate how to convert an existing Toyota Prius into an even more advanced battery operated car. Cadam was also in Austin to attend the Austin Alt Car Expo at the Palmer Center, hosted by Austin Energy.
Korea House
For over 20 years, the Korea House has been home to an amazing array of homemade Korean food and now the freshest sushi.
This restaurant has long been a gathering place for Austin’s Korean community, their family and friends. Nestled in the Village Shopping Center in north Austin, this well known secret has now become a favorite for local neighbors and those wishing to sample some of the best kimchi in town.
Brave New Books
Harlen Detrict, owner of Brave New Books, tells us how he started his bookstore in the summer of 2006 after a 9-11 conference in Chicago. The two-year old bookstore specializes in “suppressed information” – from political information to medicine. The bookstore is located near the University of Texas.
Allandale Neighborhood Fourth of July Parade
Austin’s Allandale neighborhood has held a 4th of July parade every year for the past 48 years. This year was one of the biggest ever with State Representative Elliot Naishstat, newly elected Councilmember Laura Morrison, County Commissioner Sarah Eckhart, and Constable Bruce Elfant joining Allandale neighbors in the celebration. Awards were given to parade participants in the categories of Most Patriotic Costume, Grand Marshall Award, Most Unusual, and an award for each of the following: best stroller, bicycle, scooter, wagon, car/truck, float, and pet.
