The Crestview/Brentwood neighborhood residents declare their hood is the best! They celebrated their homes with the building of a mosaic tile Welcome Wall with custom made tiles from the residents of this community. Crestview Shopping Center with long-time businesses, family-owned and operated for years, such as IGA Minimax, Little Deli, and Crestview Barber Shop. Austin’s Gay and Lesbian Community pull out all the stops with one of the largest parades in the country. Support from area corporations, religious communities and citizens of the city make a splash in this year’s parade. The parade was held after the Gay Pride Celebration which had a new venue this year at Auditorium Shores.

Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BSEACD) sponsored its 6th Annual Austin Cave Festival on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the Village of Western Oaks Karst Preserve. The event featured many Austin area organizations that focus on caving and on water issues.

Vince Hanneman’s South Austin lawn sculpture, The Cathedral Of Junk is a free standing, multi-storied collection of steel and stories. Constructed of a menagerie of rusted refuse from bicycle frames to mattress coils. This is quit possibly the most Uniquely Austin lawn ornament this side of 35.
